## TLDR: More than 1,000 developers applied to join the first AAIF Ambassador cohort. We went in expecting to select 10 people for a pilot group. The quantity and quality of the applications changed that. The first cohort is 138 ambassadors across 41 countries and 6 global regions. |

When we opened Ambassador applications a few weeks ago, we had a target of selecting maybe 10 ambassadors. We wanted to start small with just enough people to pilot the program, understand what support was needed, and build from there.

But more than 1,000 people applied from all over the world! Not only were we overwhelmed by the quantity, but the quality and geographic breadth of the applications caused us to rethink everything.

Trying to choose only 10 people from such a talented pool was pretty much impossible. The application pool was telling us something. There’s a huge demand to not only build with agentic AI, but to help others build with it too.

We got the message loud and clear. We decided to forego the arbitrary ceiling and instead accept everyone who genuinely cleared the high bar we’d set.

The result is [138 ambassadors distributed across every major global region](https://aaif.io/ambassadors/#list).

## A cohort we didn’t plan to build

The first cohort spans 41 countries across Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and North America. This is a genuinely global community, and it came together much faster than we expected.

## What they’re actually committing to

Ambassadors will represent AAIF-hosted open source projects: MCP, AGENTS.md, goose, agentgateway, as well as future ones. They are committing to make one public contribution every month that’s useful to a real developer. 82% of ambassadors opted to represent multiple AAIF projects, which is great because that will demonstrate how these projects can work together for more complex flows.

There’s no single way to make a difference. The selected Ambassadors are extremely talented and will cover speaking, blogging, teaching, and contributing directly to the projects.

Open source depends on people who teach. Those contributions don’t always have a formal home. They show up in personal blogs, local meetup talks, Discord answers at 11pm. The Ambassador Program exists to recognize that work and make it easier to sustain.

## What comes next

Ambassadors are receiving their onboarding details now and their profiles will go live at [aaif.io/ambassadors](https://aaif.io/ambassadors).

If you’re looking for someone to speak at your event, write for your publication, or be a guest on your channels, reach out to an AAIF Ambassador.

If you would like to join the Ambassador Program, applications remain rolling, with the next official intake in January 2027.
