[DSA-endorsed candidates won their primaries](https://nypost.com/2026/06/23/us-news/mamdani-backed-lefties-sweep-in-nyc-congressional-primaries-as-socialist-mayors-influence-grows-to-dc/) this cycle, all while the organization gloats about “transforming society” and “drafting a new constitution.” OK. I’m no expert, but defunding the Department of War while rewriting America’s founding principles sounds like a blatant coup.\n\nUnsurprisingly, on Sunday, the New York Times published an op-ed arguing that Democrats shouldn’t cull the DSA from their ranks, as doing so would be to engage in silly “feuds over abstractions” like the “merits of capitalism and socialism.” In that case, DSA members, may I introduce you to the “abstraction” of a catapult flinging you across the border?\n\n**2. We can’t literally automate everything**\n\nby Blake Dodge, writer\n\nThe AI investor Sarah Guo is… bearish on AI. The way Guo — who [predicted the AI boom](https://nypost.com/2025/12/29/business/should-we-fear-the-ai-boom-how-it-compares-to-2000s-dot-com-bubble/) and made a killing — sees it, the big AI labs used to be satisfied with leasing out their models to other companies, so that those other companies could use the models to build cool stuff (apps, businesses, etc). But now they’re trying to do it all. They want to build everything, even healthcare and legal businesses.\n\nGuo is betting they can’t, favoring instead the niche startups in the trenches ([healthcare AI companies](https://nypost.com/2026/03/27/business/artificial-intelligence-can-now-prescribe-mental-health-drugs/), lawyer AI companies), the ones winning the trust (and revenue) of the actual industries in question. And I mean… healthcare is hard! Regulations are hard! Unions are hard! People are hard! Very little of literally everything you do, at the end of the day, reduces down to the best technology, or the prediction of words on a page. Unless you code. Lol.\n\n**3. Hey, MAGA — get your paws off our democracy**\n\nby Riley Nork, writer\n\nRepublicans continue to freak out because one little dog voted in California, and really, they should just stop barking about it. That’s according to the [SF Chronicle](https://www.sfchronicle.com/politics/article/california-dog-vote-22348108.php), which just published a helpful fact-check about the canine voting scandal, a popular talking point for Republicans like Steve Hilton. These Republicans point to the incident, in which an Orange County woman successfully [registered her furry friend as a voter](https://nypost.com/2026/04/18/us-news/california-woman-charged-after-registering-dog-to-vote-says-it-was-a-test/) in the state, as evidence for why California needs stricter voting laws (crazy, I know).\n\nBut per The Chronicle, since the woman was ultimately caught and prosecuted, “the system worked as intended” and further fraud precautions like Voter ID are unnecessary. Phew! Except this woman was only caught… AFTER HER DOG’S VOTE WAS LITERALLY COUNTED IN AN ELECTION. Don’t worry, Californians — 50 Nithya Raman votes may mysteriously emerge from the local Humane Society, but rest assured the perpetrators will be caught eventually (after electing your next mayor).\n\n**Download The California Post App, follow us on social, and subscribe to our newsletters **\n\n**California Post News**: [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/TheCaliforniaPost/), [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/californiapost), [TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/@CaliforniaPost), [X](https://x.com/californiapost), [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/@thecaliforniapost), [WhatsApp](https://www.whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb6a2IV1NCrL6q2AWq0E), [LinkedIn](http://linkedin.com/company/californiapost)**California Post Sports** [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/capostsports/), [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/capostsports/?hl=en), [TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/@capostsports), [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/@CaliforniaPostSports), [X](https://x.com/capostsports)**California Post **[Opinion](https://x.com/californiapost) **California Post Newsletters**: [Sign up here!](https://email.nypost.com/#california-post)** California Post App**: [Download here!](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/california-post/id6751343487)** Home delivery**: [Sign up here!](https://subscribe.californiapost.com/defaultCAP)** Page Six Hollywood**: [Sign up here!](https://pagesix.com/hollywood-signup/)", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/voting-dogs-harmless-socialists-and-the-limits-of-ai", "canonical_source": "https://nypost.com/2026/07/22/opinion/voting-dogs-harmless-socialists-and-the-limits-of-ai/", "published_at": "2026-07-22 23:00:22+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-07-22 23:28:19.873010+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["artificial-intelligence"], "entities": ["Democratic Socialists of America", "New York Times", "Sarah Guo", "San Francisco Chronicle", "Steve Hilton", "The California Post"], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/voting-dogs-harmless-socialists-and-the-limits-of-ai", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/voting-dogs-harmless-socialists-and-the-limits-of-ai.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/voting-dogs-harmless-socialists-and-the-limits-of-ai.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/voting-dogs-harmless-socialists-and-the-limits-of-ai.jsonld"}}
