A viral Instagram saga about a mother trying to ban Oreos from her daughter’s kindergarten has been confirmed as a paid partnership with an AI company, but its creator has declined to say whether the messages were authentic.
The drama, dubbed “Oreogate,” was shared by Instagram creator ashleighjamz across 13 videos. The first installment surpassed 10 million views as parents, medical creators and brands weighed in on the increasingly bizarre dispute.
Each video presented screenshots from an alleged parent WhatsApp group, with the messages transformed into songs using AI music generator Suno.
The saga began when a mother named Michelle asked other parents to stop packing Oreos, chocolate and candy because her daughter Ava was not allowed to eat them and became upset after seeing another child with the cookies.
Other mothers refused, while the messages claimed Michelle complained to the school, searched children’s lunchboxes and requested that Ava be seated away from classmates eating Oreos. A later installment seemingly revealed that Ava had been trading her own snacks for the forbidden cookies.
Oreo even joined the conversation, writing on its official Threads account: “OREO-gate was NOT on my 2026 bingo card.”
Suno confirms creator partnership behind Oreogate #
Despite being widely discussed as a genuine parent-group dispute, every Oreogate caption included the hashtag #sunopartner.
Suno subsequently confirmed to Business Insider that @ashleighjamz is one of its paid creator partners. The company said it did not devise or control the Oreogate storyline.
“Our creator partners have the freedom to use Suno however they want,” a spokesperson said. Oreo also told the outlet it had no involvement in producing the series.

However, ashleighjamz did not directly answer when asked whether the messages, parents and children featured in Oreogate were real.
The creator said she had deliberately “not been getting into the specifics” while so many people were following the story. According to Business Insider, she stopped responding after receiving additional questions.
Questions had already been raised about the account by internet-culture writer Stephanie McNeal, who noted it was less than a month old and contained only sponsored Suno videos.
Those posts follow a similar format, including alleged messages from a disastrous bachelorette trip, an ex-boss and a “delusional” friend, all converted into AI-generated songs. Suno has also been used to create other viral songs that left listeners questioning their origins.
There is currently no confirmation that the Oreogate messages were fabricated. However, with its creator declining to verify them, it remains unclear whether the saga documented a real dispute, was inspired by one or was created entirely as sponsored entertainment.
