A developer posting as Gathin on X used Anthropic's Claude Code to strip 25 Xiaomi packages from his parents' Android TV and write a replacement launcher, after the set showed a sponsored ad before Netflix could load. Gathin said Claude Code located the TV on the local network from its model number, and that the prompt, launcher source and the problems encountered are published, with the method working on any Android TV or Google TV and all changes reversible.
