US Marines' latest anti-drone toy is an AI turret that uses regular machine guns

The US Marine Corps has contracted Allen Control Systems (ACS) to integrate its Bullfrog autonomous weapon system onto the L-MADIS counter-drone platform, using existing machine guns like the M240 to shoot down drones at a fraction of the cost of interceptor missiles. The Bullfrog's AI and computer vision enable it to autonomously engage both aerial and ground targets, including humans, without software restrictions, raising ethical concerns. The Marines become the third US military branch to deploy the system, following the Army and Navy.
