What Changed on My Mac: When I opened the app on my Mac after the latest update, I immediately felt that something was different.
The app I had been using as Codex now carried the broader ChatGPT identity.
The logo had changed, the navigation had been reorganized, and features that previously felt separated were now presented as parts of one larger workspace.
This was more than a visual refresh.
It changed how I understood the relationship between regular ChatGPT, longer knowledge-work tasks, and coding work with Codex.
The update arrived around the launch of the GPT-5.6 family: Sol, Terra, and Luna.
These models do not appear in exactly the same way everywhere.
Standard ChatGPT conversations focus mainly on Sol for eligible users, while Work and Codex can offer Sol, Terra, and Luna depending on the user’s plan.
Sol is positioned for the most demanding work, Terra aims for a balance of capability and efficiency, and Luna is designed for speed and lower cost.
After spending time with the new interface, these are the four changes that stood out most to me.
