Upcoming deprecation of selected GitHub Copilot models

GitHub will deprecate Gemini 3.5 Flash, Gemini 3.6 Flash, Kimi K2.7 Code, and Claude Opus 4.7 across all GitHub Copilot experiences on October 2nd, 2026, urging users to migrate to suggested alternatives such as Gemini 3.8 Flash, Kimi K3, and Claude Opus 5. Administrators of Copilot Enterprise and Business may need to enable access to the alternative models through their model policies.

Copilot Enterprise and Copilot Business administrators may need to enable access to the alternative models through their model policies in Copilot settings. As an administrator, you can verify availability in your organization or enterprise Copilot model settings and confirm that the policy is enabled for the specific model. Once enabled, users will see the model in the Copilot Chat model selector in supported GitHub Copilot experiences. No action is required to remove the models after they have been deprecated.
