Unity were already moving forwards with [Unity AI that we covered back in May](https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2026/05/unity-ai-out-in-open-beta-to-give-developers-the-fabled-make-game-button/), and now that make game button becomes closer to reality with Unity Spark.

While using generative AI to have a "make game" button was somewhat a joke - it's uh, not really much of a joke now. Unity Spark is sort-of that. Giving developers a way to AI prompt a game into existence using assets taken from the Unity Asset Store.

In a [blog post](https://unity.com/blog/why-we-built-unity-spark), Unity's President and CEO Matt Bromberg mentioned:

"We don't know exactly who will walk through this door, or what they'll make. That's the whole point. Democratizing game creation is Unity's founding mission. Unity Spark was incubated in that spirit. We can't wait to see what you build together."

What do I think? Well, according to that marketing video, a game someone always wanted to make is - an extremely bland and basic looking space corridor shooter? Okay then.

I get it's *not* aimed at seasoned professional developers, but it's a pretty *weak* showing. For some people I'm sure the idea sounds cool, and I do very much like the idea of making game development more accessible with better tools - but is this really the way? Taking away the learning, the sense of progression and the very soul of things. I'm not convinced.
