Twitch now uses your channel to train generative AI by default

Twitch, the Amazon-owned live streaming platform, now uses streamers' channels to train generative AI by default, with an option to opt out of some training. The change was highlighted by Zach Bussey, who noted that chat messages in streams that have not opted out can also be used for training, prompting calls for all users to opt out. Twitch clarified that the opt-out applies to Amazon's Generative AI content model training and that Twitch itself is not training GenAI models on streamer content.

Twitch now uses your channel to train generative AI by default. You can opt out of some training here:

  • Replying to @MimiLenattvSomething to keep in mind. If you chat in someone else's stream that hasn't opted out of gen ai training then your chat can be used for training. EVERYONE NEEDS TO OPT OUT! <3 - Just want to be clear. This lets you opt out of Amazon's Generative AI content model training. Twitch is not training GenAI models on streamer content.
  • endless notifications for streamers I don't follow and drops for games I don't play, but complete silence when opting us all in to train genAI. I hate it here
