Trump's Bizarre AI Stock-Trading Fantasy Puts 'Hundreds of Billions' on the Line at the Oval Office

Donald Trump claimed in a Truth Social post that he made 'Hundreds of Billions of Dollars' for the United States through stock trading, sharing an AI-generated image of himself at the Resolute Desk trading Intel stock from $20 to $95. The post follows the U.S. government's acquisition of a 9.9% stake in Intel for about $8.9 billion in August 2025, and Senator Elizabeth Warren and Representative Robert Garcia have cited disclosures showing over 14,000 stock trades worth up to $1.06 billion in 2025.

Donald Trump has turned his stock portfolio into an AI-powered Oval Office fantasy, complete with an imaginary Intel trade, a staggering profit, and a claim that he has made 'Hundreds of Billions of Dollars' for America.

In a Sunday Truth Social post, Trump wrote, 'I do this for our Country, not myself,' before claiming he had made hundreds of billions of dollars from stocks and other holdings for the United States.

He offered no calculation explaining what the figure represents.

Alongside the post, Trump shared an AI-generated image showing himself sitting at the Resolute Desk, apparently trading Intel stock. The fictional trade shows a purchase at $20 (£14.80) and a rise to $95 (£70.29).

The timing makes the image particularly striking. Intel closed at $95.80 on Friday, September 4, just days before Trump posted it.

The $20 to $95 (£14.80-£70.29) Intel Fantasy #

The choice of Intel is especially notable because the US government acquired a major stake in the chipmaker in 2025.

Under an agreement announced by Intel and the Trump administration on August 22, 2025, the US government bought 433.3 million Intel shares at $20.47 each, giving Washington a 9.9 per cent stake worth about $8.9 billion (£6.58 billion).

The $20 starting point in Trump's AI image therefore closely resembles the government's actual purchase price, while its fictional $95 destination is almost identical to Intel's real closing price last Friday.

That does not make the image a record of an actual transaction. It is an AI-generated depiction, not evidence that Trump personally bought Intel at $20 and sold it at $95.

But it makes for an unusually eye-catching piece of political imagery.

This is not even the first time Trump has used Intel to illustrate an imaginary trading success.

In September 2025, he shared another AI-generated image depicting himself trading Intel, with the fictional stock moving from roughly $20 to $30 (£14.85 to £22.28). Contemporary reporting noted that those figures broadly reflected Intel's real-world prices at the time.

The latest image revisits the same concept, only with Intel now shown climbing from $20 to $95.

The visual is fictional. The market move is real.

What Does 'Hundreds of Billions' Mean? #

Trump's accompanying claim is harder to quantify.

His statement does not say whether 'Hundreds of Billions' refers to investment gains, the value of government holdings, broader economic benefits, or something else.

That distinction matters.

Financial disclosures have revealed extensive trading activity connected to Trump's investment accounts, but his Truth Social post does not establish that he personally generated hundreds of billions of dollars for the United States.

The White House has maintained that Trump's investments are managed by outside professionals rather than directed personally by him.

The Scale of Trump's Stock Trades #

The scale of the underlying portfolio activity is nevertheless extraordinary.

A letter sent in August by Senator Elizabeth Warren and Representative Robert Garcia said Trump's disclosures showed more than 14,000 stock trades worth up to $1.06 billion (£787 million) during 2025. The lawmakers also cited 3,555 stock trades worth up to $500 million (£370 million) during the first three months of 2026.

Those numbers do not mean Trump personally sat at a computer and placed thousands of orders. His representatives have said outside managers handle the investments.

But the volume has intensified scrutiny of Trump's stock-market activity, particularly where trades coincide with government actions or his public comments about companies.

The Timing Questions #

Warren and Garcia also cited a CNN investigation that found Trump made at least 44 stock purchases involving 21 companies within a week before he posted complimentary Truth Social messages about those companies, their executives, or their products.

That finding does not establish that Trump personally directed those purchases or that his posts were intended to influence share prices.

It does explain why the timing of some Trump stock trades has attracted attention.

The scrutiny centres on the proximity between reported purchases, presidential commentary and government decisions affecting companies.

Why Intel Matters #

Intel brings the entire story into focus.

The US government bought its 9.9 per cent stake at $20.47 per share. Intel's stock has since climbed dramatically, reaching a $95.80 (£70.88) close on September 4.

Trump has now used an AI image to portray himself profiting from essentially that same $20-to-$95 (£14.80-£70.29) journey, while claiming that his stock activity has generated 'Hundreds of Billions' for America. None of that, by itself, proves improper trading. But it explains why this strange Truth Social post is more than just another AI meme.

The image shows a fictional president trading from the Oval Office. Behind it sits a very real investment portfolio, a very real government stake in Intel, and thousands of disclosed transactions.

Trump's biggest number, however, remains unexplained: what exactly are the 'Hundreds of Billions', and how did he calculate them?
