## Trump gets giddy about visit from China's Xi, boasts about AI superiority

Washington DC - **President **[Donald Trump](https://www.tag24.com/en/news/politics/politicians/donald-trump)** on Wednesday got giddy while talking about the upcoming visit of **[Chinese](https://www.tag24.com/en/topic/world/china)** President Xi Jinping to Washington, and bragged about the US' AI superiority.**

"By the way, we have the president of China coming on the 24th," Trump told a conglomeration of reporters [who had gathered in the Oval Office](https://x.com/WhiteHouse/status/2095207422340255798) for a meeting between a number of US travel executives.

"That'll be very exciting. Great, love to love to have him. A lot of good things to discuss, very, very productive things to discuss with President Xi," Trump rambled on.

[The summit in Washington](https://www.tag24.com/en/topic/world/china/trump-invites-xi-to-visit-white-house-after-positive-and-productive-discussions-3498734) is scheduled for September 24 and is likely to see the two leaders discuss a range of issues that jointly impact both the US and China, as well as areas of cooperation and Washington's tariff policy.

"There's never been a time when $20 trillion of investment is coming in," Trump continued. "And the other number was by China many years ago, the previous record, but this is a record that's five times greater – it's incredible what's happening with our country."

The comments referred to inbound investment US investment, which will likely be a major topic of discussion between the two world leaders.

Trump also took the opportunity to boast about the US' lead over China in artificial intelligence, declaring: "AI is going up, and we're leading China in AI very substantially!"

His comments in the Oval Office, as well as the upcoming summit, comes at a time of tension between the US and China, especially after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent [urged G20 countries this week ](https://www.tag24.com/en/topic/world/china/bessent-to-demand-g20-nations-make-major-move-against-china-amid-trade-tensions-3528528)to make a unified move against Beijing and Russia.

**Last week, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi**[ laid out a series of issues ](https://www.tag24.com/en/topic/world/china/chinas-foreign-minister-lays-out-major-problems-ahead-of-trump-xi-visit-in-washington-3527912)**that may become sticking points during the Xi-Trump meeting, and called on Washington to "focus on the positive agenda."**
