US President Donald Trump has announced a “Super Intelligence Force” to coordinate federal policy on advanced artificial intelligence and oversee engagement with technology companies, public interest groups and critical infrastructure providers.
The task force follows an executive order directing the executive branch to replace the terms “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” with “Super Intelligence” and “SI”, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Announcing the initiative on Truth Social, Trump said it would build on the White House Accord on Super Intelligence, reached after discussions with leading technology companies about their responsibilities to the public.
“The Super Intelligence Force is tasked with coordinating the effort of the Federal Government to ensure that America continues to lead the World in Super Intelligence,” he wrote, adding that its mandate included protecting Americans’ interests and improving their lives.

A SINGLE POINT FOR GOVERNMENT COORDINATION #
The Super Intelligence Force, or SIF, will coordinate federal engagement with consumers, public interest groups, religious organisations, critical infrastructure providers and companies developing the technology.
Its four-member leadership team will comprise Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Chief Technology Officer and Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor.
Trump said the group would report directly to him and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
The leadership brings together officials responsible for intelligence, defence technology, regulation and federal personnel, reflecting the initiative’s reach across government functions.
NEW NAME, EXISTING LEGAL DEFINITION #
The executive order, titled “Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence”, changes the terminology used across executive branch operations. For now, however, it applies the existing statutory definition of artificial intelligence under Title 15 of the US Code to “Super Intelligence”.
The directive also gives the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology 60 days to submit proposed legislative language to Congress establishing an updated statutory definition and recommending corresponding changes to existing laws.
The terminology change therefore precedes the proposed revision of the federal legal definition.
TECH LEADERS EMPHASISE SAFETY #
The announcement follows a White House luncheon attended by senior technology executives, including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Sundar Pichai and Jensen Huang.
Trump portrayed the technology’s potential impact as greater than that of the internet and described the sector as a major source of American growth.
After the meeting, executives and administration officials outlined a White House Accord focused on safe development.
“We want to give the American people and our customers confidence that the technology works in the way we intended,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called for cooperation between industry and the administration.
“We all need to work together to make sure that we can win and we can win safely. If we do this right, if we work with the President and everyone here, we can win safely,” he said.
Clayton highlighted the national security dimension, saying the discussions had identified American leadership in AI as a central security priority.
The new task force is intended to coordinate those economic, safety and security objectives while the administration pursues changes to the language and legal framework governing the technology.
