# Trump Announces New ‘AI Force’, Maintains Pro-AI Stance Despite Warnings From Tech And Political Leaders.

## The president dismissed popular concerns about boundless AI development as a pro-Chinese talking point and hoax.

President [Donald Trump](https://www.ibtimes.com/topic/trump) said on Saturday that he is looking to create an "[AI](https://www.ibtimes.com/topic/ai) Force", with an AI czar at its head, to monitor the technology amidst growing calls for AI regulation.

"I am forming the AI Force, much like I did Space Force, which has been a tremendous SUCCESS, in my First Term. To that end, I will be announcing, in the near future, the AI "Czar" - Only High I.Q. individuals need apply!" Trump [wrote](https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/117298821562014906) on Truth Social.

Trump's post comes a week after Dario Amodei, the CEO of AI safety and research company Anthropic, shared an essay entitled "[We Must Pace The Frontier"](https://darioamodei.com/post/we-must-pace-the-frontier). In the

essay, Amodei called for the development of cutting-edge AI [technology](https://www.ibtimes.com/technology) to slow to allow safety protocols to catch up.

If AI innovation is not intentionally moderated, AI agents could become capable of "taking over the entire internet" within 6-12 months, the CEO warned.

Elon Musk and Sam Altman, CEOs of rival tech companies, quickly endorsed Amodei's calls for moderation.

Figures from across the political spectrum also expressed support for curbing AI advancement. On Tuesday, both progressive Senator Bernie Sanders and Trump's former chief strategist and right-wing podcaster Steve Bannon attended and spoke at the pro-Human Assembly conference in Washington, at which speakers emphasized AI's potential dangers.

The American public is growing similarly skeptical of the technology, according to polls. One [Politico poll](https://www.politico.com/news/2026/09/16/poll-ai-technology-risks-humanity-trump-voters-01078087), which was conducted between Sunday and Tuesday, found that 63% of Americans surveyed believed AI poses at least a moderate risk of destroying humanity.

Trump, however, [dismissed](https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/117271376102039451) concerns about AI as a "hoax" on Monday.

"The only control or 'guardrails' that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!", the president [posted](https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/117269745153543631) on Truth Social.

He also accused AI skeptics of promoting a narrative that benefited China.

"There is a SICK conspiracy going on against AI and Data Centers, and the only one that is happy about it is China. WHOEVER WINS AI, WINS!", Trump continued.

Although China has largely rebuffed calls for regulation of Chinese AI development as a "fearmongering" tactic designed to allow the U.S. to pull ahead in the AI race, Beijing's top spy chief has publicly criticized AI.

On Sunday, the Chinese minister for state security Chen Yixin wrote in an article that generative AI technology was being used to "launch public opinion wars and cognitive warfare against China, directly threatening our political security, institutional security and ideological security".
