Tripledot Studios acquires Supersonic from Unity for $40m

Tripledot Studios acquired mobile publisher Supersonic from Unity for $40 million, with Supersonic continuing as a standalone company under the Tripledot Group brand, led by its existing management team and based in Tel Aviv. Supersonic CEO Igor Bereslavski said the deal provides capital, technology, and user acquisition expertise, while Tripledot co-founder and CEO Lior Shiff noted that AI lowers barriers to game development, making publishing and scaling key. The acquisition follows Tripledot's $800 million purchase of AppLovin's mobile games business last year.

Mobile publisher will continue to operate as standalone company led by existing management team

Tripledot Studios has acquired mobile publisher Supersonic from Unity for $40 million.

Unity announced plans to divest Supersonic earlier this year after shutting down its IronSource network.

Supersonic became part of Unity in 2022 through an all-stock merger with IronSource valued at $4.4 billion. Supersonic will continue to operate as a standalone company under the Tripledot Group brand, led by its current management team and remaining based in Tel Aviv.

"Joining Tripledot means finding a new home built specifically around scaled game publishing, with the capital, technology, and user acquisition expertise," Supersonic CEO Igor Bereslavski told GamesBeat.

"The combination of Supersonic's publishing expertise and Tripledot's vast resources can further help our developer partners to build and launch successful games in partnership with us. Our day-to-day commitment to those partners isn't changing. It's the same core team, tools, and hands-on support, just backed by a much bigger, faster engine behind it."

Tripledot co-founder and CEO Lior Shiff added: "As AI lowers the barriers to developing a high-quality game, the constraint for a small studio is no longer building a game, but bringing it to market and scaling it to millions of players.

"That is the problem a publisher exists to solve, and Supersonic has been solving it for years. Together with Lion Studios, we can now partner with more studios, in more markets, with better technology behind it. We are delighted to welcome the Supersonic team to the Group."

Last year, Tripledot acquired AppLovin's mobile games business for $800 million, adding ten studios and expanding into markets such as the US and Asia.

Unity recently published its latest financial results, achieving its "best quarter in history" after shifting focus to its core game engine and the AI-powered advertising and user-acquisition platform, Vector.
