There’s *how to build* AI agents. And there’s the *future of Pascal*.\n\nAt first glance, those might not seem to have much in common. But they all come back to something we care about a lot: where development is going, and what we can do with the technologies we already have.\n\nEKON 30 takes place [November 23–27 in Düsseldorf](https://entwickler-konferenz.de/tickets-eng/?ref=blogs.remobjects.com), and we’d love to see you there.\n\nHere’s what we’ll be talking about:\n\n## **Building Fast Apps with Island/Delphi**\n\nIn this talk, we’ll take a real Delphi application and make it faster — looking at performance from several different angles, from algorithms all the way down to code generation.\n\nWe’ll also bring Island/Delphi into the picture, and look at what happens when you combine Delphi code with RemObjects’ native code generation technology.\n\nAnd there’s another part we’re particularly looking forward to: modern language features. There are language constructs available today that many Delphi developers simply haven’t used. Some of them can make code cleaner, some can make it safer, and some open up approaches that simply weren't practical before.\n\nSo this isn't just a talk about squeezing another few percent out of a benchmark.\n\nIt's about building fast, optimized apps, yes, but also techniques and language design that can help you do so.\n\n## **How Do You Actually Build an AI Agent?**\n\nWe built CodeBot as an AI coding agent for Delphi. But CodeBot isn't just an LLM in a loop, and it isn't a wrapper around somebody else's coding agent. It is a genuine agent, with planning, tools, context, multiple agents, skills, permissions, and a whole architecture behind it.\n\nAnd that raises an interesting question:\n\n*How do you actually build something like that?*\n\nThat's what this talk is about.\n\nNot specifically how to build a coding agent. Not how to add a chatbot to your application. And not another \"call the LLM, check the response, repeat\" example.\n\nInstead, we'll look at the architecture behind modern, genuinely agentic systems — and how you can apply the same ideas to pretty much any problem.\n\nYour agent might help developers. It might work with business data. It might automate a workflow. It might be something completely different. Niklaus Wirth had a vision when he created Pascal. Borland had a vision when it transformed Pascal in the 1990s. Languages such as Rust, Kotlin, Swift and Zig have each been shaped by their own ideas about what a modern programming language should be.\n\nSo what would a vision for Pascal in 2030 look like?\n\nThis session isn't about choosing between Delphi, Oxygene or Free Pascal, or about proposing a particular collection of new syntax. Instead, it looks at the bigger picture: what can we learn from the visions that shaped successful languages, and what could that mean for Pascal's future?\n\n**We expect this one to generate some discussion** — which is exactly what we want.
