This Samsung 55-inch mini-LED TV has crashed to its lowest price every on Amazon, and it’s seriously tempting if you’re looking for something that’s great for everyday usage, packs some higher-end features, and is still wallet-friendly. 
Let me get straight into it and tell you what this TV brings to the table for its new $349.99 price tag. As mentioned, this is a mini-LED TV, so it’s a level-up from your standard LED option. This means that this TV has both fewer and more LEDs than your typical budget-friendly LED TV, which allows it to be more precise, brighter, produce better color, and have better contrast. These are especially good for watching HDR content, making movies and shows look far more cinematic and atmospheric.

Performance-wise, you’ve got a 60Hz native refresh rate here, which puts it more into the ‘casual usage’ bracket, rather than something designed to be paired with high-end gaming consoles and PCs. That being said, it does handle motion very well, as it features Samsung’s Motion Xcelerator + DLG 120Hz, which essentially makes fast-paced content appear smoother. This is great for sports and gaming.

One of the big differences between an okay TV and a great TV is its processor, as these are responsible for optimizing picture quality on the fly. Since much of the content through popular streaming platforms is not native 4K, processors like this TV’s mini-LED processor 4K are super important as they are designed to upscale content quality so it appears much better than it is in its original state. This particular processor also has a Color Booster feature to showcase movies and shows at their best.
So, where does this TV scale back? Well, its HDR support isn’t super extensive, but it does support HDR10+, which allows it to showcase HDR content in a much more nuanced and dynamic way compared to a TV with just HDR10, which is just a fixed picture setting. Its glossy coating is also not amazing for reflections or reducing glare; however, it does improve perceived color, sharpness, and contrast. For me, that’s really the only ‘downsides’, but they’re both more of a result of being an affordable mini-LED TV, rather than anything seriously negative.

Who’s this Samsung mini-LED TV for?
At under $350, this TV is excellent for those looking for something cost-effective that delivers better picture quality than your typical budget-friendly options, and is good for watching sports and gaming, but without being overkill for the latter. This is the type of TV I’d be interested in for watching content on, and potentially playing games on something like a PS4 or Nintendo Switch, which would be very good for.

Should you buy this TV now?
In a word, yes. As you can see from the pricing history above, it’s the best time to go for it on Amazon since its release, and while it may be possible that it’ll drop lower, I’d highly doubt it will be by anything significant. I’d predict that this deal will last through to the end of Prime Day, based on what I’ve experienced covering Prime Day sales over the past few years. That being said, if you’re keen on it, I’d considering jumping on it sooner rather than later.
