Prime Day is just around the corner, but as usual, more than a few excellent offers are popping up on my radar before the official sales begin. Recently I’ve been spotting some excellent deals on larger screen TVs from many of the leading brands. Case in point, this LG 75-inch NU85 Series TV is back down to its record-low price again on Amazon, with a 10% discount dropping it to $629.99. While this discount is relatively modest, every little bit helps if you’re trying to score a large TV at a price point that doesn’t break the bank. These savings can also easily go towards a cost-effective soundbar to complete your setup, too.

Now on to the TV itself, and what it brings to the table. Basically, this TV is an LED display, which is more entry-level compared to something like mini-LED, with an ‘everyday usage’ refresh rate of 60Hz, that’s powered by one of LG’s advanced a7 AI processor Gen9 chips, which notably features LG’s Nono Detail Enhancer for crisper picture quality.
What this means is that you’re getting something that’s going to have good color, brightness, and contrast, offer smooth motion handling, and be decent for gaming up to 60fps, and can leverage AI to upscale lower resolution content to make it look like 4K. On top of that, it has a few premium features, like FreeSync Premium and ALLM, and Filmmaker mode, which give it a slight edge over your typical budget-friendly TV.

So, where does this TV scale back to stay well below $1,000 at this size? Well, it supports HDR 10 Pro, which basically takes HDR10 content and makes it look better on the fly. It’s decent, but not as good as something that can support HDR10+ or Dolby Vision. Its refresh rate is, I’d say, too low for a PS5 or high-end gaming PC, as you’d be better off with something that’s 120Hz to 144Hz, but it does boast some interesting gaming features that will enhance performance regardless. 
Who is this LG 75-inch TV for?
I’d say this is a solid option if you’re building a cost-effective, home theatre-like setup, and still want something that’s going to showcase films and content well, and provide decent gaming capabilities. It’s also a good way to go if you want something from one of the leaders in the space, where you’re getting slightly higher-end features, build quality, and operating systems.

Should you buy this TV now or wait?
I could potentially see this TV dropping a bit further, but from my experience writing about deals for years now, I’d say it’s unlikely to be anytime soon. Maybe around Black Friday, it could go to $600, but it’s hard to imagine an LG 75-inch TV hitting super budget-friendly levels. If you’re interested in it, this would be a good time to go for it, especially so as discounts on this TV appear to be quite rare.
