Is this laptop good value?
Alternative to consider and more top gaming laptop deals
This ASUS TUF gaming F16 laptop is going for a pretty reasonable price right now on Amazon. It has 21% off its list price, and is available for $1,029.99, which is not bad all things considered.
First up, its graphics card is an RTX 5050 mobile, which is a level-up from the previous RTX 4050, and is built on newer Blackwell architecture, which gives you access to exclusive features like MFG, and boasts improved ray tracing and AI capabilities, too. This card is designed primarily for FHD gaming at high framerates and playing AAA titles at medium to high settings on the go, and it’s obviously more affordable than something like an RTX 5070 mobile, too.

The CPU here is the Intel Core i5-13450HX, which packs 10 cores, 16 threads, a 4.6Ghz boost clock speed, and 20MB Intel Smart Cache. It’s a solid pick for this laptop, and not over-specced for the RTX 5050, and will allow for high fps gaming with low latency in FHD, and some decent multitasking and workstation capabilities, too. As for the screen, it’s FHD+ and 165Hz, with 100% sRGB color. In short, it’s a display that gives you everything you need for gaming, will look crisp and clear at this size, and will make games and content appear vibrant and colorful, too.
With 16GB of DDR5, WIFI 6E, military-grade materials, and more, this laptop brings a lot to the table for the price and would be a very strong pick for those who want something that does the basics very well, from a very reputable brand in the space.
Is this laptop good value?
ASUS TUF gaming laptops are more budget-friendly options, and, as mentioned, do the basics very well. For RTX 5050 and RTX 5060 laptops, they would be my first point of call if I wanted to keep costs close to the $1,000 mark. Now, I have seen this laptop drop lower than this in the past, but in general, I’m finding that in recent months, RTX 5050 laptops in particular hover around $1,000 in most cases, especially those with DDR5 RAM.
Is it good value? Yes, I’d say so, but if you stick around till Prime Day, it could drop a bit further, so that’s worth factoring in.
Alternative to consider and more top gaming laptop deals
If you’re looking for something similar, I’d say Acer Nitro and some of MSI’s entry-level laptops would be good to check out. At this price point, you’re going to be getting decent CPUs, maybe 16GB of DDR5, but not always, and IPS, FHD+ screens. If you move closer to $1,400, you’ll start getting decent RTX 5060 laptops, which will have better gaming performance, and slightly punchier CPUs in general.
