HP G1A 128gb 8060S monster laptop)", "summary": "A Linux kernel patch on linux-media fixes a self-deadlock in amd_isp4_capture's isp4sd_start_stream() error path that froze HP G1A (Ryzen AI Max 128GB, 8060S) laptops when the webcam failed, according to a forum post that built the fix into the linux-g1a 7.3.1 kernel. The poster reports the hang is gone but the camera still stays black because the ISP firmware rejects SET_STREAM_CONFIG after a BIOS update to 01.06.02. Other users in the thread report Fedora 45 beta working on first boot and no hangs so far.", "body_md": "The laptop always refuses to power off, no randomness here. Today I tried the CachyOS kernel as an alternative but everything froze when I tried using the camera.\n\n \n\n \n[alanoo](https://forum.level1techs.com/u/alanoo)\n265\n \nJust tried Fedora 45 beta. Everything works as intended on the first boot, maybe the first time I had to do zero fiddling.\n\nOnly small compliant is the by default the “performance” mode sticks the freq to 5+ Ghz and 20W+ and never goes down, which is a bit stupid and inefficient on a laptop.\n\n \n\n \nfirst time I got the update through `fwupdmgr`!\n\n \n1 Like\n\n \nG1a webcam update: the “everything freezes when the camera fails” bug (`fail to get out prop` in `journalctl -k`, apps stuck until a reboot) is a deadlock in `amd_isp4_capture`. There’s a fix on linux-media: [isp4: fix self-deadlock in isp4sd_start_stream() error path](https://lore.kernel.org/all/20261028-isp4-start-stream-deadlock-v1-1-babd80273148@proton.me/). I’ve built it into [linux-g1a](https://github.com/gdkrmr/linux-g1a) (7.3.1), and the hang is gone. The camera still stays black for me, though: the ISP firmware rejects the stream config (`SET_STREAM_CONFIG` returns a failure). It started right after I updated the BIOS to **01.06.02**.\n\nDoes your camera work on 01.06.02, or did it break after updating?\n\n \n\n \nHonestly, I don’t use the camera that much, but keeping that in mind, I haven’t had any hangs (yet?).\n\nI didn’t see one at first glance, but if you tell me of a way to reproduce it without doing anything very exotic, I can definitely check if it happens on my system.", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/the-ultimate-arch-secureboot-guide-for-ryzen-ai-max-ft-hp-g1a-128gb-8060s-laptop", "canonical_source": "https://forum.level1techs.com/t/the-ultimate-arch-secureboot-guide-for-ryzen-ai-max-ft-hp-g1a-128gb-8060s-monster-laptop/230652?page=14#post_268", "published_at": "2026-11-06 16:38:14+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-11-06 16:50:33.377799+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["ai-chips"], "entities": ["HP G1A", "Ryzen AI Max", "amd_isp4_capture", "linux-g1a", "Fedora 45", "CachyOS", "linux-media"], "also_reported_by": [], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/the-ultimate-arch-secureboot-guide-for-ryzen-ai-max-ft-hp-g1a-128gb-8060s-laptop", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/the-ultimate-arch-secureboot-guide-for-ryzen-ai-max-ft-hp-g1a-128gb-8060s-laptop.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/the-ultimate-arch-secureboot-guide-for-ryzen-ai-max-ft-hp-g1a-128gb-8060s-laptop.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/the-ultimate-arch-secureboot-guide-for-ryzen-ai-max-ft-hp-g1a-128gb-8060s-laptop.jsonld"}}
