But that hasn’t stopped leaks and information from slipping through the cracks. For example, we’ve already seen listings suggesting that any entry 128GB model won’t be available for the base, Pro, XL, or Fold variants. So what does Google’s own Gemini AI assistant make of the family overall? We asked the AI chatbot whether it thought the upcoming Pixel 11 models would be worth it. And it certainly offered some supportive highlights, including a ‘reliable modem’, the Tensor G6 processor, and ‘more storage out of the box’. But ‘more storage’ is just code for dropping the most affordable capacity, and Gemini had more to say. Here are the three clear reasons it feels the Pixel 11 range is worth skipping. ## 1. The pricing is creeping up “While you get double the starting storage (256GB), you will have to pay for it. The base Pixel 11 is expected to start at $899 (a $100 bump over the Pixel 10’s base price), while the Pixel 11 Pro is rumored to start at $1,099.” This is a big issue. If it cannot, evacuating this more affordable 128GB space surely opens an unfavorable door to entry for a lot of users. And not only that, gamers and other users who pay for progress face a potential dilemma. If the GPU information is correct, do they pay more for a new phone with a five-year-old GPU? And what about users upgrading from a handset several generations old? The used market for the Pixel 10 may see a bump in interest. ## 3. “Pixel Glow” instead of a redesign “If you were hoping for a fresh physical aesthetic, you’ll likely be disappointed. The Pixel 11 will look nearly identical to the Pixel 10. The only major visual change is the rumored inclusion of ‘Pixel Glow’ – an array of LED lights lining the camera bar meant to function as a physical notification indicator.” If proven true, it’s a little disappointing that the Pixel 11 has minimal visual changes. Worse still, combined with the two points above, a lack of a redesign reinforces disappointment. It’s clear to see why murmurs about what Pixel 11 may offer have yet to shift. It’s one thing if a phone looks similar, but an outdated GPU and a $100 higher base price on top of it? Why pay more for less innovation? For Gemini, each point means that – at a minimum – Pixel 10 users may want to keep their current models. ## The Verdict Based on what we’re seeing from leaked information, Gemini’s caution seems valid. If you’re on an older-generation Pixel or Android phone, a Pixel 11 may make sense. Although we’re waiting for models and pricing to be officially confirmed, the progress from older models will be obvious. But there’s a lot of underwhelming information appearing, too. For Gemini, if you care about “top-tier camera processing and have been frustrated by past Pixel battery life/reception issues”, a Pixel 11 could suit you. That may be true, and many may look past an underwhelming design and less-than-sparkling specs. But even then, pricing is the key issue. And the latest leak doesn’t look good.
