- Gemini Intelligence is coming to the Pixel 11 series, with Rambler turning rambling thoughts into polished text.
- Google Messages can now automatically pull up relevant information, including live flight details, Google Maps listings, and Calendar prompts.
- Other Pixel AI features are getting smarter, too, with upgrades to At a Glance, Circle to Search translations, and real-time dubbing through Live Translate.
It wouldn’t really be a Made by Google event without Gemini getting some stage time. This year, though, Google is putting Gemini Intelligence front and center on the new Pixel 11 series. We’ve already seen these features make their way to Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z Fold phones.
Google wants Gemini Intelligence to understand what you’re doing and step in when it can save you a little work. We got an early taste of that idea at Google I/O 2026 with Rambler, a feature that lets you spill out your thoughts however they come to you and have Gemini turn them into polished text. So, if you’re walking to work and need to send a long message, you could ramble and let Gemini clean it up into something another human can actually understand.
Google Messages is where things start getting even more interesting. Say, for instance, a friend texts you asking what time your flight lands. Usually, you’d leave Messages, hunt down the booking in your email or airline app, check whether the flight is delayed, and then jump back into the conversation with an answer. Gemini Intelligence can cut out much of that back-and-forth by surfacing relevant flight information for you, including its live status and a shareable flight-tracking link.
The same idea applies to much more ordinary conversations. If someone suggests a restaurant for dinner, Gemini Intelligence can bring up its Google Maps listing. If a friend asks whether you’re free next Friday, it can surface a Calendar prompt. So, having your phone take some of those tasks off your plate could make Gemini feel considerably more useful.
Of course, a phone understanding this much context also brings up the obvious privacy question. Google says Gemini Intelligence is being built around three main principles: giving users explicit control, protecting their data, and being transparent about how the technology works. Those promises are particularly important here, considering how much personal context Gemini Intelligence may need to be helpful.
Google has a few more AI upgrades up its sleeve, with At a Glance, Circle to Search, and Live Translate all getting smarter. At a restaurant, for instance, your Pixel can surface a Google Maps shortcut with useful details like popular dishes or quieter seating. That could save you from scrolling through a mountain of reviews while everyone at the table waits for you to pick something.
Circle to Search is getting a handy upgrade, too. You can now use Translate directly from the Pixel Camera app, so pointing your camera at an unfamiliar menu, street sign, or product label and holding the home bar can quickly bring up a translation. It’s a small change, but one I can see being incredibly useful while traveling.
Live Translate goes a step further. The Pixel 11 can automatically dub supported audio in real time, building on the same technology Google already uses for translated phone calls. It also works with YouTube and select video and podcast apps, with Tensor G6 helping power the experience.
Ultimately, Gemini Intelligence will only be as good as the time and effort it actually saves us. If Google can surface our flight details, pull up a restaurant, or help make plans without constantly sending us hunting through other apps, that’s the kind of AI we can get behind. All it really needs to do is make the things we already do every day a little easier.
