The next AI interface may not be a chatbot.
Most AI agents today still live inside fixed surfaces.
A chat window.
A terminal.
A messaging app.
A web UI with buttons and screens someone designed in advance.
They can answer questions, call tools, edit files, run commands, and generate content.
But the interface itself usually stays the same.
I think that will change.
The more interesting future is not just AI operating inside existing software. It is AI helping create the interface needed for the task in real time.
Ask for a summary, and you get text.
Ask to compare data, and the workspace turns into a table or chart.
Ask to monitor something, and it creates a dashboard.
Ask to organize a project, and it builds a small task board, note view, or custom workspace.
Not as a separate app someone had to design upfront.
As part of the interaction itself.
We are used to this model:
fixed app UI + chatbot bolted on top
But the next model may be closer to:
agent + dynamic workspace + generated widgets + persistent state + rollback
Instead of forcing every task through the same chat box, the agent can shape the working environment around what the user is trying to do.
Of course, this creates new problems.
If software can change itself, it can also break itself. So undo, audit history, permissions, sandboxing, and recovery modes become much more important.
But the direction feels right.
Chat is useful.
But chat is not the final interface.
The next layer is probably dynamic visual workspaces where AI does not just answer questions or operate apps.
It helps build the workspace with you.
