A Tesla China insider told reporters on Aug. 26 that claims the company’s Shanghai data center, established to support the introduction of FSD Supervised in China, had been emptied and its related team withdrawn are untrue.
Public information indicates that Tesla’s work on data compliance and local adaptation for FSD in China is continuing. The Shanghai data center stores data domestically, while an AI training center in Lingang began operating in February. Tesla is also working with Baidu Maps on compliant high-definition maps. China is not currently listed among the markets where FSD Supervised subscriptions are available, but Tesla’s website still lists China among the markets where the system can be used.
