Tencent is negotiating to become the largest shareholder in AI agent startup Manus at a $2 billion valuation, according to the Financial Times, after China's National Development and Reform Commission ordered Meta to divest from the company in April. The deal would return Manus to Chinese-backed ownership and align with Tencent's plans to embed AI agents into WeChat.
