A Hacker News user posting as I_am_tiberius reported that creating an Anthropic account now requires a government ID, with the signup flow redirecting to identity-verification site withpersona.com to submit a selfie with a passport. The poster said Anthropic had requested a phone number two years earlier, which the poster already considered excessive. The post, submitted 11 minutes before capture, had 4 points on Hacker News.
