@tel: I've been leaning hard on NixOS in my latest attempt at a linux desktop box and have been really enjoying it.

A user reports that NixOS, a Linux distribution, has been enjoyable in their latest desktop setup, and that large language models (LLMs) significantly help manage the vast information needed to use it effectively. The user initially used Hyprland but switched to Niri, which they have enjoyed. The reply mentions sharing configs across two Linux and two Mac devices and recommends using an LLM with NixOS.

I've been leaning hard on NixOS in my latest attempt at a linux desktop box and have been really enjoying it. LLMs definitely help as there's a tremendous amount of information you need to use it effectively, I feel. I also started with Hyprland but then moved to Niri and have really enjoyed it.

replied to:I absolutely lovefor fact you can just rebuild into a clean state at any moment. I also share configs between 2 linux devices and 2 mac devices. Initially started with hyprland, but eventually switched to kde plasma. Nixos without LLM's would have been a pain tho, so would definitely recommend using one.
