Story Protocol has rebranded as the DATA Foundation and is shifting from a general intellectual-property focus to infrastructure for AI training data, according to CoinDesk. CoinDesk reports the group will operate an onchain registry called the DATA Network and a Trace platform that issues cryptographic receipts documenting dataset provenance, licensing, consent terms, and payment history. The change follows public scrutiny: Decrypt reports Story Protocol's native token fell about 98%, and CoinDesk says the project faced attention in February over a token unlock delay. CoinDesk also reports the organisation has raised $140 million in cumulative funding led by a16z crypto and that Kled AI integration has registered 1.1 billion user-contributed records, per CoinDesk's reporting and an email interview with Avi Patel.
