SpaceXAI’s Grok Bot Agent Tops 400,000 Users After First Month

SpaceXAI's Grok Bot AI agent reached 418,000 weekly users as of Sept. 14, roughly a month after its mid-August launch, according to a presentation shared at a London event and viewed by Bloomberg News. The figure rose 24% from the prior week, though Bloomberg Intelligence said Meta Platforms' consumer-focused Muse app has been downloaded four times more than Grok Bot. SpaceXAI, which acquired AI coding startup Cursor for $60 billion, released the coding-focused Grok 4.5 in July and Grok 4.7 earlier this week.

The agent product is distinct from Grok, SpaceXAI's flagship chatbot. Representatives for SpaceX did not respond to requests for comment. SpaceX's AI unit unveiled Grok Bot in mid-August as part of its bid to keep pace with Anthropic PBC and OpenAI in the growing market for AI agents. Grok Bot is designed to act more like an always-on employee than a chatbot. It can answer emails, update a sales database, process invoices, organize work or file a software bug. Wall Street zeroed in on the market potential for AI agents this week after Meta Platforms Inc.'s Muse topped the rankings for free apps on Apple Inc.'s App Store. The early traction prompted analysts to draw comparisons with the breakout success of OpenAI's ChatGPT in late 2022. Meta's Muse is more focused on consumers, and is free to download. By comparison, SpaceXAI has positioned Grok Bot as an enterprise tool, bundling the offering with different tiers of AI subscription plans. Grok Bot is also available as a standalone app. Muse has been downloaded four times more than SpaceXAI's tool, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. In the past three months, SpaceXAI has moved aggressively to gain ground in AI. The firm has pushed ahead with model releases as well as agents, following its $60 billion acquisition of AI coding startup Cursor. In July, the firms released Grok 4.5, a model focused on coding, finance and legal tasks that was cheaper to use than other competing software. Earlier this week, SpaceXAI introduced Grok 4.7, which is intended to be capable of fielding more challenging tasks for longer stretches of time.
