The achievement matters because it underpins Perplexity Computer, an AI agent system that orchestrates multiple frontier models to handle complex, long-running workflows inside disposable cloud sandboxes. Perplexity Computer launched on February 25, 2026, and it represents a meaningfully different approach to AI agents. Rather than a chatbot that answers questions and forgets you exist, this system is designed to execute multi-day tasks autonomously inside isolated Linux sandboxes.
Each sandbox ships with 2 vCPUs and 8GB of RAM. The platform supports over 400 OAuth integrations, meaning these sandboxes can authenticate with and interact with a huge range of third-party applications.
Access is limited to Pro, Max, and Enterprise subscribers. Perplexity is positioning Computer as a professional productivity tool, and the internal numbers they’ve shared are striking: the platform reportedly enabled the equivalent of 3.25 years of output to be completed in just four weeks.
