Sonos just launched ‘Sonos 27’ app update, here’s what’s new

Sonos has officially launched its 'Sonos 27' app update, introducing a redesigned app with simpler navigation, swipe gestures, and pinned rooms, plus early access to Portable Surrounds, Headphone Linking for Ace Ultra headphones, and Sonos 27mcp, which connects AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude. The update is available for all Sonos S2 products, with feature availability varying by product. Sonos also previewed upcoming features including Sonos 27voice, its own music-focused assistant, and Sonos Custom Agents, expected later this fall and in 2027 respectively.

Here’s what’s available now, per Sonos: - Portable Surrounds: ”Two of the same portable Sonos speakers Move 2 or Sonos Play can become rear surrounds when paired with a compatible soundbar, then return to their original role when moved, giving existing hardware more utility without a dedicated home theater setup.” - New Sonos 27app navigation: “A redesigned app with simpler navigation, swipe gestures and pinned rooms for faster control.” - Headphone Linking Early Access : “Ace Ultra headphones connects to your Sonos system, letting listeners push and pull sound between nearby speakers and their ears without a phone as the middleman.” - Sonos 27mcp Early Access : ”Connect AI assistants including ChatGPT and Claude to Sonos giving you more choice, rather than locking listeners into a single assistant.” Sonos has also highlighted two more features coming soon: 1.
