According to Hajhamid, OpenAI's Codex helped create the jailbreak, published as \"ns2jb\" on GitLab. The work matters because it is an early claimed break of the Switch 2's protections, achieved with an older game and an AI coding tool.", "body_md": "# Someone hacked the Switch 2 by using an old game and AI\n\nBy Jay PetersSource: \n\n[The Verge AI](https://www.theverge.com)\nThe Nintendo Switch 2 has apparently been jailbroken, and a modder has already shown the console running a custom version of *Mario Kart World* featuring new playable characters like Cinnamoroll, the red Angry Bird, Peter Griffin, and Steve from *Minecraft*.\n\n[OpenAI](https://www.machinebrief.com/glossary/openai)'s Codex helped make this \"[ns2jb](https://gitlab.com/pepsipu/ns2jb)\" [jailbreak](https://www.machinebrief.com/glossary/jailbreak), [according to Sammy Hajhamid](https://pepsipu.com/blog/2026-10-switch2-jailbreak-ns2jb/), aka \"pe …\n\nGet AI news in your inbox\n\nDaily digest of what matters in AI.", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/someone-hacked-the-switch-2-by-using-an-old-game-and-ai", "canonical_source": "https://www.machinebrief.com/news/someone-hacked-the-switch-2-by-using-an-old-game-and-ai-i3u7", "published_at": "2026-10-22 17:21:31+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-10-22 18:14:40.272947+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["artificial-intelligence", "ai-tools"], "entities": ["Nintendo", "Nintendo Switch 2", "OpenAI", "Codex", "Sammy Hajhamid", "Mario Kart World", "GitLab"], "also_reported_by": [], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/someone-hacked-the-switch-2-by-using-an-old-game-and-ai", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/someone-hacked-the-switch-2-by-using-an-old-game-and-ai.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/someone-hacked-the-switch-2-by-using-an-old-game-and-ai.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/someone-hacked-the-switch-2-by-using-an-old-game-and-ai.jsonld"}}
