Slow down the race to regulate AI

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called for slowing the development of frontier AI and bringing outside evaluators into the process, an idea endorsed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, and SpaceXAI CEO Elon Musk, according to the Washington Examiner. The Washington Examiner argued that lawmakers should exercise extreme caution when regulating an industry they don't understand, noting that big businesses calling on big government to cement their status as industry leaders isn't new and that many past warnings about AI have turned out to be false.
