While it’s not available in the very first beta, Siri AI is coming to the Apple Watch in watchOS 27. In my view, this is the biggest change for the device in a long time.
watchOS 27 goes beyond Apple’s delayed Siri promise from two years ago #
When Apple first unveiled its AI strategy at WWDC in June 2024, the Apple Watch wasn’t really part of the upgraded Siri and Apple Intelligence story.
Two years later, Apple promises to bring Siri AI to the Apple Watch with watchOS 27. This includes the dedicated Siri app, and early reviews of the new Siri AI system are really positive.
Using iOS 27 developer beta 1, users can already experience Siri AI in a screen-free context with AirPods. That’s a solid component of the wearable AI strategy. AirPods will extend Siri AI on Apple Watch, just like iPhone.
What excites me the most about Siri AI on Apple Watch specifically is all the contexts where it will be available.
I definitely don’t always wear my AirPods, and I don’t always have my iPhone unlocked and available.
My Apple Watch, on the other hand, is almost always unlocked on my wrist and ready to go.
If Siri AI continues to impress and watchOS 27 delivers as promised, Apple Watch will be the first mainstream wearable AI product overnight.
If it works, that’s a really fresh and compelling pitch for a product category that’s already a hit.
Apple Watch Series 11 is currently priced from $299 on Amazon. Apple Watch Ultra 3 is at a 90-day low price of $699 on Amazon. watchOS 27 requires Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, or Apple Watch SE 3.
