Show HN: Television – an open source GUI for your agent harness

Telepath released Television, an open-source GUI for AI agent harnesses, on GitHub today after testing with a few hundred alpha users. Television installs a CLI and lightweight server on Linux or macOS wherever an agent harness runs, connecting to a macOS client app or browser and working with harnesses including Claude Code, Codex, Hermes, OpenClaw, Pi, and OpenCode using the agent's existing inference providers. The tool lets agents create and modify artifacts on a themed visual surface, which Telepath frames as a step beyond chat interfaces for owning one's own artifacts.

Hi HN, I'm co-creator of Television (https://television.run/). Me and the team at Telepath (https://telepath.computer/) have been cooking on this and testing it with a few hundred alpha users. We just opened up the repo to the public today.

Television is a clean, beautiful place for all your artifacts. Think of it as a GUI for your agent harness, a visual space for creating and working with artifacts in collaboration with your agent. It works with any agent harness (Claude Code, Codex, Hermes, OpenClaw, Pi, OpenCode, etc) and uses whatever inference provider(s) your agent is already using. It's open source.

A CLI and lightweight server get installed wherever your agent harness is running (Linux or macOS for now). These talk to our macOS client app, which can be running anywhere (the browser is also supported with a few limitations). A set of skills tell your agent how to put artifacts on your TV's screen and modify them over time.

You use the client app as a sidecar -- i.e. you chat with your agent the way you normally do, but it can now respond by creating artifacts and putting them on your TV. Everything that ends up on your TV is yours and can be modified by talking to your agent. The entire UI, and your artifacts, are themeable.

We noticed lots of people are using artifacts in agents like Claude Code/Cowork and Codex, and lots of developers are spinning up little websites and webapps for working on projects, organizing their life or work, etc. But it all either ends up locked inside your agent's interface or as a mess of random tabs running on a bunch of ports you quickly lose track of.

We think that the future of personal computer interfaces isn't just chat, any more than it's MS-DOS. Artifacts are an early first step beyond chat. We think they should be easier to work with, and that you should own your own artifacts. So we made Television.

It's early but give it a try and let us know what you think: https://github.com/telepath-computer/television/ (BTW: we're building TV via an end-to-end fully spec-driven dev process, with custom tooling that also pulls in design and UI work. Planning to share more about that in the near future.)
