Show HN: Lobby Domains: Find Domains with Chrome's On-Device AI Lobby Domains launched as a free browser-based domain name generator that uses Chrome's on-device AI to produce name ideas and checks registration status through RDAP, requiring no account or API key. The tool lets users search up to eight extensions per query, star up to 24 names, compare 2–4 names, and export shortlists as CSV or JSON with registry check times, while saving up to ten searches with the latest 200 candidates each in browser local storage. Lobby Domains does not sell or register domains, and an unregistered result is a registry snapshot that does not guarantee registration, eligibility or price. Find a Domain Name Describe it. Find a name. Make it yours. Your domain ideas Your next name starts with an idea. Describe what you’re building. We’ll find names and check them with their registries. Unregistered is a registry snapshot. Registration, eligibility and price are not guaranteed. Starred shortlist 0 Compare & export Starred shortlist 0 Keep up to 24 names while exploring new searches. Choose 2–4 to compare. Exports include domains, registry status and check times; your brief is excluded. Star any suggestion or checked domain to keep it here. Nothing is saved to this device until you choose Save search below. Saved on this device 0 Save & revisit Saved on this device Saving stores your brief, settings, recent results and shortlist in this browser’s local storage. Up to ten saves, with the latest 200 candidates per save. No account, cloud sync or automatic saving. Anyone using this browser profile can open them. Opening a snapshot replaces the current workspace and makes no registry requests. Recheck restored domains before deciding. Delete removes a save; it leaves the open workspace intact. How it works Free domain name generator and RDAP checker Find a name for your business, side project or next product. Generate ideas locally with Chrome AI, then see live registration results as each name arrives. Start with common choices like .com, .ai and .dev, or filter the full bundled RDAP extension directory. Choose up to eight extensions per search, or check a domain you already have in mind. Can I share a search or use Back and Forward? Starting a search puts its description and settings in the query string. Available results update the same URL as they arrive. Only finished searches add browser history entries, so Back and Forward restore final results without rerunning AI or registry checks. Share search opens your device’s share sheet where supported; Copy link works as a fallback. Links include your description, settings, available names and check times. Anyone with a link can read them. Opening a link shows a snapshot; recheck for current registration status. Can I shortlist names or save a search? Star suggestions or checked domains, compare up to four names, and export your shortlist as CSV or JSON with registry check times. Choose Save search on this device to store your brief, settings, recent results and shortlist in this browser. Saving is optional and never automatic. Open or delete snapshots in Saved on this device, or clear all local saves. Recheck restored results before deciding. How do I refine an idea or rescue a registered name? Explore variations on a suggestion: more like this, shorter, easier to spell, or less playful. Naming constraints control required and excluded words, maximum length, hyphens and numbers. Rescue a name explores alternatives that retain the original meaning or sound. New suggestions are checked as they stream, and your starred shortlist remains available. How does the domain name generator work? Describe your project, choose your extensions and naming style, and set how many available ideas you want. Chrome generates names on your device while Lobby Domains checks each domain with its registry. The search keeps exploring new names until your target is met, or you stop it. Registry access or model errors are shown clearly. Is Lobby Domains free to use? Yes. Generating domain name ideas and checking registrations are free, with no account or API key required. Buying a domain is separate; Lobby Domains does not sell or register domains. Can I check a domain without using AI? Yes. Choose Check domains and enter one or more names with their extensions. Your browser checks registrations directly through RDAP, the Registration Data Access Protocol. You can use domain checking even when local AI is unavailable. Does an unregistered result mean I can buy the domain? An unregistered result means the registry returned a not-found response. Reserved, premium or restricted domains may still be unavailable to register. Unknown results, including network failures and unsupported browser requests, never count as available ideas. Which browser do I need to generate names? Idea generation needs a supported desktop Chrome browser with built-in AI and eligible hardware. Chrome may download its model the first time you enable it. Domain registration checking works independently of Chrome AI. What information leaves my device? AI generation runs on your device. The URL includes your business brief, settings and available results so searches can be shared. Anyone with that link, and the site host when it is opened or refreshed, can read those fields. Domain names are sent directly to their registries for RDAP checks, so those registries see each queried domain and your IP address. Optional named saves use local storage; completed searches are also kept in browser history. Optional registrar links share only the selected domain with the registrar you click; your brief is never included. Lobby Domains has no application backend, analytics or account database. Connected agents follow their own providers’ privacy settings.
