Show HN: InstallRate – what Claude, GPT and Gemini npm install (20 categories)

A November 2, 2026 InstallRate leaderboard run found that Claude, GPT and Gemini converge on a small set of default npm packages when given 600 build tasks across 20 devtool categories that never name a product. Sentry was installed first in 100% of error-monitoring answers and Playwright in 100% of end-to-end testing answers, while Stripe led payments at 80%, Neon led Postgres hosting at 67%, shadcn/ui led UI components at 63%, AWS S3 led object storage at 57%, Drizzle led ORMs at 53%, Resend led transactional email at 53%, and PostHog led product analytics at 93%. InstallRate cautions that samples are small — about 10 answers per model per category — and sells a $19 competitive report showing a product's picks against three chosen competitors across all three models within 24 hours.
