Shadowgraph also identifies noteworthy GitHub contributors and tracks what they star and mention on X and Hacker News as a curation signal, and it offers an MCP server plus semantic search for repositories and developers. The project was posted to Hacker News as a Show HN with 1 point and 0 comments.", "body_md": "I like to see what new projects people are working on in open-source, but I found it hard to find projects or news in any systematic way.\n\nI built Shadowgraph so that I could browse the latest in open source development in a more natural way. It ingests repos from github and scrapes hackernews, reddit, and X for mentions of them.\n\nI also identify noteworthy contributors on github and track what they're starring as a signal for potentially high quality projects that might otherwise fly under the radar. I also track their tweets or hackernews contributions for mentions of github repos for a more curated feed of content. Finally, there's an MCP and semantic search for repos and developers.\n\nThis is a fun side project for me but I want it to be useful for people- feedback is very much appreciated.\n\nComments URL: [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=50356198](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=50356198)\n\nPoints: 1\n\n# Comments: 0", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/show-hn-i-got-tired-of-github-trending-so-i-built-my-own", "canonical_source": "https://shadowgraph.io", "published_at": "2026-11-03 18:38:00+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-11-03 18:51:37.236319+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["developer-tools", "agent-protocols", "ai-search", "ai-tools"], "entities": ["Shadowgraph", "GitHub", "Hacker News", "Reddit", "X", "MCP"], "also_reported_by": [], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/show-hn-i-got-tired-of-github-trending-so-i-built-my-own", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/show-hn-i-got-tired-of-github-trending-so-i-built-my-own.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/show-hn-i-got-tired-of-github-trending-so-i-built-my-own.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/show-hn-i-got-tired-of-github-trending-so-i-built-my-own.jsonld"}}
