Show HN: Gasfree.app a Rack of Synthetizers in the Browser A developer released Gasfree.app, a browser-based rack of software synthesizers built with the Web Audio API, after using Anthropic's Claude to finish a Moog Subharmonicon clone and then to generate clones of other famous synths by feeding the model their user manuals. The developer reports the results are "not always spot on" but added a timeline sequencer, FX, MIDI support and a node-based interface for building custom synths, and published the project on GitHub for others to extend. Some years ago Moog released the Subharmonicon. I wanted so badly to try it but I didnt have the money to buy it, so I decided to code one myself. using Web Audio API. The end product wasnt great there were lots of features missing but it helped me pass the GAS Gear Adquisition Syndrome . Fast forward to now. The other day I asked Claude to finish the project adding the missing features, and it did an amazing job, not only nailed the synth, but also improved the design so it looks closer to the original. After that I had to ask: - can it do other synths ?-, and I've been asking him for clones of famous synths I always wanted to try, just by passing the user manual, and it works . The results are not always spot on, but at least you have something to play when money runs dry. I ended up adding some extra features like timeline sequencer, FX, MIDI support . You can even construct your own synth using a node based interface I released it on github in case other people want to extend the pool of synths.
