Crosswalk includes an MCP server that lets an agent launch new tabs and agents, monitor their status (running, stuck, needs user feedback) and compact their context, plus hotkeys for jumping between tabs and groups, multi-terminal layouts, and session restore via a pseudoterminal host. The developer said Crosswalk was built to address multi-agent bottlenecks encountered while using terminal agents such as Claude Code and Codex, and it is available as a free trial.", "body_md": "I usually have many projects and terminals I’m working in so Crosswalk groups my work together and allows me to open a terminal (or another terminal app) in the correct folder/project quickly and label the tab (as well as add notes). I started on iTerm2 (which is great) years ago for my terminal manager, then found I spent too much time flipping between tabs once I started leveraging terminal agents like Claude Code and Codex so I built Crosswalk to improve visibility at a glance. It originally started as a web page, but then I moved it to an app so I had better control over notifications and sounds to let me know when work was done or needed me on one of the tabs.\n\nCrosswalk shows which sessions are still working or sitting idle with an activity dot on the tab. It provides hotkeys to jump between tabs and groups quickly. Even if you're not using agents, you can still use it for your terminal work - I commonly leave active projects as groups on the left even if I not working in them right now. There's an MCP server so an agent can launch new tabs (and agents) - it's helpful when you need a lead agent to spawn long running agents (in visible tabs) and then monitor their status (running, stuck, needs user feedback) or compact their context at efficient times. There are other nice features like layouts to view multiple terminals at once and reopens terminals from last session. I spent a bunch of time iterating on the pty host (pseudoterminal host) so updating the app or closing and then reopening will restore the sessions.\n\nThis is a paid product you can trial for free. I created it to solve the multi agent bottlenecks so I use it daily, both personally and professionally. For Mac and Windows - Electron based.\n\nComments URL: [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=50328826](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=50328826)\n\nPoints: 1\n\n# Comments: 0", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/show-hn-crosswalk-terminal-manager-to-reduce-sprawl", "canonical_source": "https://wareshq.com/crosswalk", "published_at": "2026-11-01 19:28:49+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-11-01 19:51:29.119238+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["ai-agents", "developer-tools", "agent-protocols", "ai-tools"], "entities": ["Crosswalk", "Claude Code", "Codex", "iTerm2", "Electron", "Mac", "Windows"], "also_reported_by": [], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/show-hn-crosswalk-terminal-manager-to-reduce-sprawl", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/show-hn-crosswalk-terminal-manager-to-reduce-sprawl.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/show-hn-crosswalk-terminal-manager-to-reduce-sprawl.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/show-hn-crosswalk-terminal-manager-to-reduce-sprawl.jsonld"}}
