Show HN: Claude's innerworkings: turn 170 costs 2.1x turn 20, over 14,640 turns A Hacker News user analyzing 144 Claude sessions with 14,640 turns found that after turn 141, each turn costs 2.1 times what a turn costs in the first 20 turns of the same session, prompting them to stop batching sessions. The analysis, conducted in a CoWork session with Claude, also revealed that standing context re-reads every turn (114,133 tokens on the hub seat, 108,213 on a spoke) and that humans account for 67% of the wall clock time. The user's project, my-status.app, tracks tasks and aims to split work between human and Claude based on strengths. What we do is our own flavor of "one thinking session, short task sessions" to better utilize my plan. I kept running out of Fable usage and had about half my usage leftover for Opus. But this only happened because we wrote a script to surface the data to us.
