{"slug": "shortlist", "title": "ShortList", "summary": "A developer built ShortList, an open-source, self-hostable job application tracker that automatically updates itself by parsing forwarded job emails through a Gmail filter, with a Chrome extension for one-click job saving and mobile sharing from LinkedIn and Naukri. Built on Node.js, Express, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and a React PWA, it also offers follow-up reminders and optional AI interview prep and draft generation using the user's own API key. The project is free, licensed under AGPL-3.0, and designed with Indian job seekers in mind, supporting LPA and notice period fields.", "body_md": "I applied to 40+ jobs in the last few weeks and lost track of half of them.\n\nLinkedIn, Naukri, Greenhouse, company portals... and the worst part: statuses change silently. One portal moved me to \"Shortlisted\" and I only found out because I happened to log in.\n\nSo I built ShortList, a job tracker that updates itself.\n\n→ Apply anywhere. A Gmail filter forwards job emails, and ShortList reads them: confirmations create the application, \"viewed\" and rejections update it, automatically.\n\n→ Save any job in one click with the Chrome extension, including the full JD (because postings disappear right before your interview).\n\n→ Share a job from the LinkedIn or Naukri app on your phone, and it's saved.\n\n→ It remembers what you told each company: CTC, notice period, years of Node.js.\n\n→ Follow-up reminders, plus optional AI interview prep and follow-up drafts using your own API key.\n\nEvery automatic change shows up on a timeline with its source and you can undo it.\n\nIt's free, open source (AGPL-3.0) and self-hostable, and built with Indian job seekers in mind: LPA, notice period, Naukri.\n\nStack: Node.js, Express, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, React PWA, Chrome MV3 extension.\n\nTry it yourself: [https://yash-satankar.github.io/shortlist/](https://yash-satankar.github.io/shortlist/)\n\nIf you're job hunting too, I'd love your feedback.", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/shortlist", "canonical_source": "https://dev.to/yash_satankar/shortlist-294i", "published_at": "2026-10-09 05:36:39+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-10-09 05:46:27.146585+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["ai-tools", "developer-tools"], "entities": ["ShortList", "LinkedIn", "Naukri", "Greenhouse", "Gmail", "Chrome", "Node.js", "PostgreSQL"], "also_reported_by": [], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/shortlist", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/shortlist.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/shortlist.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/shortlist.jsonld"}}
