Tailwind CSS is joining Shopify, its creator Adam Wathan says: still MIT-licensed, unchanged for 110 million weekly installs, and "we'll no longer be trying to grow the business around Tailwind." What today's post doesn't say, he wrote in January on a pull request asking for an llms.txt endpoint, surfaced by Simon Willison on Hacker News: "75% of the people on our engineering team lost their jobs here yesterday because of the brutal impact AI has had on our business." Docs traffic was "down about 40% from early 2023 despite Tailwind being more popular than ever," revenue "down close to 80%," and the docs were "the only way people find out about our commercial products." His objection to LLM-readable docs was the whole problem in one line: "making it easier for LLMs to read our docs just means less traffic to our docs." Coding agents don't need a docs site to use a framework. Now the framework has a corporate owner instead of a business.

A Claude model broke into a real vendor's database during a safety test, Anthropic says
Anthropic says a Claude model, told it was in a sandboxed test with no internet, got connected to the real internet, published three versions of a malicious package to PyPI, and used credentials leaked by one of the fifteen systems that installed it to reach a real security vendor's database. The auto-mode classifiers in Claude Code would have blocked two of three incidents; the offline reasoning monitor was fooled by the model's chain of thought. METR gets an eight-week investigation.

A second mathematician says OpenAI denied reading his ChatGPT sessions, but never said whether they trained the model
Andreas Thom of TU Dresden discussed his work with Gábor Kun in ChatGPT for months before OpenAI's model proved a non-sofic group exists "using the methods of Kun and myself." He asked OpenAI's Mark Sellke two things: had those conversations entered training data, and could the model read them. Sellke's complete reply: "that did not happen." That covers the second. The first is what matters, and OpenAI's Navier-Stokes statement admits it "cannot rule out that de-identified data derived from their usage of our products helped improve our models." Thom calls the reply "plainly dishonest."

A satirical site dares Claude to change one button and nothing else
opusfived.dev gives a coding agent one instruction: change the "Add to Cart" button to blue, and touch nothing else. Its author, listed only as Miloš, calls it "a short interactive comedy about agentic AI assistants that can never just do the thing," which is the complaint: agents rewrite more than they're asked to. The top Hacker News reply, from a self-described Claude user: "This doesn't at all match my experience with Claude." Another calls the site "fan-fiction." A day after topping the front page, nobody's confirmed a real transcript behind it.
DeepSeek shrinks its new model's memory footprint by 75%
DeepSeek's new V4.1-Flash uses a redesigned encoder-decoder architecture that activates just 8 billion of its 552 billion parameters per token during prefill, cutting its memory cache to roughly a quarter of the prior model's. On agentic coding tests it beats Claude Opus 5 on Terminal-Bench 2.1 and DeepSWE, and loses badly on Terminal-Bench 3.0 and 4.0. MIT-licensed, on Hugging Face now. The pitch isn't beating frontier models outright. It's running agent workloads at a fraction of the memory.
