I am an independent ML researcher seeking advice on research communication etiquette. I have been working on an analysis that appears relevant to a recent paper from an international research group, and before reaching out to the authors, I would like guidance on academic collaboration. I have no experience in research collaboration and would am unsure of how to approach the situation. I would be grateful for any level of guidance.

I am uncertain of what level detail is appropriate to send when reaching out to another research team. Finding the right way to communicate and work together in a collaborative manner is my goal.
