Did you know that for over 100 years the printing process has used four inks - Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (Black) - to create millions of colors?

See in CMYK invites you to explore this process and learn about the science of color. Create a custom CMYK poster using four colors and a universe of AI icons, generated by Gemini in response to your image.

This playful experiment by artist [Stefanie Posavec](https://www.stefanieposavec.com/) was created in collaboration with the [Exploratorium](https://www.exploratorium.edu/) and Google Arts & Culture Lab.

How it works

- First, you are invited to take a photo.

- Using Gemini, your photo is analyzed to identify specific objects and light densities.

- Traditional, uniform halftone dots are then transformed into a bespoke universe of AI-generated icons.

- You are invited to experiment with print settings to create your own unique poster.
