{"slug": "scour-october-update", "title": "Scour - October Update", "summary": "Scour processed 1.5 million articles from 34,703 feeds in October and gained 164 new users since its last product update, founder Evan Schwartz reported. Schwartz rebuilt Scour's relevance ranking from scratch and replaced its embedding model, ending a two-year MixedBread sponsorship and moving to Voyage AI's Voyage 4 family of models. The update also adds a \"Beyond your feeds\" discovery view and improves screen-reader navigation, including easier heading navigation and keyboard shortcuts that can be turned off.", "body_md": "Hi friends,\n\nIn October, Scour scoured **1.5 million** articles from **34,703 feeds**. 164 new users signed up since the last product update email, so welcome to you all!\n\nHere's what's changed in the product:\n\nI rebuilt the way Scour determines which content is relevant from the ground up so you'll see more relevant posts and fewer off-topic ones in your feed.\n\nDuring the rebuild, I also replaced the embedding model Scour uses, meaning I am no longer using the sponsored model from MixedBread. Thank you so much to [MixedBread](https://mixedbread.com) for sponsoring 2 years of Scour's embeddings 🙏. I'll continue to be a big fan of their work and eager reader of their blog, which you can subscribe to via Scour [here](https://scour.ing/feeds?subscribe=https://mixedbread.com/blog). Going forward, Scour will be using the [Voyage 4 family of models](https://blog.voyageai.com/2026/01/15/voyage-4/), which I'm pleased to say I actually heard about initially on Scour.\n\nFor people who use screen readers to navigate Scour, the website experience should be quite a bit better now. Headings are easier to navigate and keyboard shortcuts are easier to find and can be turned off so they don't interfere with screen readers. Thanks to Elliott P for letting me know that certain parts of Scour were hard to find and use!\n\nFor those of you who subscribe to specific feeds, Scour previously had the options to see content either from \"All sources\" or \"Feeds you follow\". Now, you can also see only content from \"Beyond your feeds\" if you want to use Scour to discover exclusively new content you're not seeing through your feed subscriptions.\n\nHere are some of [my favorite articles](https://scour.ing/@emschwartz/loves) I found on Scour in October:\n\nHappy Scouring!\n\n- Evan", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/scour-october-update", "canonical_source": "https://emschwartz.me/scour-october-upate-2026/", "published_at": "2026-11-03 21:16:00+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-11-03 21:21:22.227419+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["ai-products", "ai-tools", "artificial-intelligence"], "entities": ["Scour", "Evan Schwartz", "MixedBread", "Voyage AI", "Voyage 4", "Elliott P"], "also_reported_by": [], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/scour-october-update", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/scour-october-update.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/scour-october-update.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/scour-october-update.jsonld"}}
