# Samsung opens India HVAC line to tap AI data center demand > Source: > Published: 2026-08-13 05:35:09+00:00 Samsung Electronics said Thursday it has opened a new heating, ventilation and air-conditioning production line in India, expanding its manufacturing capacity as it targets growing demand from AI data centers. The new facility in Pune, Maharashtra state, will be able to produce up to 6,500 HVAC units annually once fully operational, the company said. It will operate alongside FlaktGroup’s existing production site in Noida and serve customers in India as well as the broader Asia-Pacific region. Samsung held an opening ceremony for the facility Wednesday, attended by Kim Cheol-gi, executive vice president and head of its Digital Appliances business, FlaktGroup Chief Executive David Dorney and about 100 executives, customers and other business partners. “This new production line in Pune marks an important milestone in expanding our HVAC supply capabilities beyond India and across the Asia-Pacific region,” Kim said. “By combining Samsung’s AI and platform technologies with FlaktGroup’s HVAC expertise, we will deliver greater value to customers, including those operating AI data centers.” The 13,826-square-meter facility includes production lines, offices and supporting infrastructure. Samsung said it began installing equipment earlier this year and established mass-production capability in about six months. The Pune plant will produce FlaktGroup’s air-handling units, fan wall units and computer room air handlers, which are used to regulate temperature, airflow and air quality in data centers and other large commercial facilities. Air handling units use chilled water to cool and circulate air, while fan wall units and computer room air handlers help maintain precise operating conditions for servers and other IT equipment. Samsung said Pune was selected in part because of the rapid expansion of data center and industrial infrastructure in the region. Its proximity to Mumbai port is also expected to improve logistics and shorten supply times for customers across Asia-Pacific. The expansion comes as the rapid buildout of AI computing infrastructure increases demand for power-intensive data centers and the cooling systems needed to operate them. Samsung has been seeking to strengthen its HVAC business by combining its AI and platform technologies with FlaktGroup’s expertise in cooling. herim@heraldcorp.com
