The company's new consent notice had prompted concerns that users would lose their health data if they refused to let it be used for AI training and human review.", "body_md": "As its new redesign rolls out, Samsung Health is also forcing users into a choice – let their data be used for AI training, or make it effectively unusable in the long term.\n\n**Update 7/15:** In a statement to *9to5Google*, Samsung says that it won’t delete *all* of your data if you opt-out of AI training. Rather, it will only delete “data collected for AI development.” In other words, it sounds like it is deleting data from Samsung’s end rather than the user’s.\n\nSamsung says:\n\nSamsung Health offers an optional consent to use health data for AI development. Users can withdraw this consent at any time. When consent is withdrawn, only the data collected for AI development will be deleted. Your existing health data will be retained so you can continue to use Samsung Health without interruption.\n\nOur original coverage follows:\n\nThe folks over at * How-To Geek* picked up on a new consent notice being sent out to Samsung Health users that allows Samsung to use that data for AI training, including human review. Samsung explains on a\n\n[support page](https://samsunghealth.com/shd/gen-ai):\n\nThe health data you have allowed us to collect and process will be used for AI training and modelling, including human review, to improve Samsung Health, including algorithms to analyse health conditions and our AI features.\n\nData included here includes step counts, sleep, medication data, cycle tracking, and even your full health records including treatments, test results, and more.\n\nOpting out of this consent via the Samsung Health app’s settings shows a pop-up saying that Health will delete the user’s data and not sync it going forward if they withdraw consent. This would, at bare minimum, mean that data would no longer sync across devices, but it could have impacts beyond that.\n\nSamsung says:\n\nYou will not be able to sync health data with your Samsung account and your health data will be deleted unless retained pursuant to applicable law. If retention is required, we will erase it as soon as the required retention period ends.\n\nThis comes as the [Samsung Health redesign, currently rolling out, adopts more AI-powered features](https://9to5google.com/2026/06/04/samsung-health-ai-redesign-galaxy-watch-9/), and just [days ahead of Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 9 launch.](https://9to5google.com/2026/07/07/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-8-launch-event-date-confirmed/)\n\n## More on Samsung:\n\n[Samsung shares first official glimpse at wide Galaxy Z Fold 8, with Spider-Man’s help](https://9to5google.com/2026/07/09/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-8-spider-man-teaser/)[Galaxy Watch 9, Ultra 2, and Z Flip 8 sure do look like Samsung sequels in official-looking renders [Gallery]](https://9to5google.com/2026/07/08/galaxy-watch-9-ultra-2-flip-8-renders-leak/)[Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch app leaks with Pixel Watch vibes and features [Gallery]](https://9to5google.com/2026/07/06/samsungs-new-galaxy-watch-app-leaks-with-pixel-watch-vibes-and-features-gallery/)\n\n**Follow Ben:** [Twitter/X](https://twitter.com/NexusBen), [Threads](https://www.threads.net/@nexusben), [Bluesky](https://bsky.app/profile/nexusben.com), and [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/nexusben)\n\n*FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links.* [More.](https://9to5mac.com/about/#affiliate)\n\n[our homepage](http://9to5google.com/)for all the latest news, and follow 9to5Google on\n\n[exclusive stories](https://9to5google.com/feature/exclusive/),\n\n[reviews](https://9to5google.com/guides/reviews/),\n\n[how-tos](https://9to5google.com/guides/how-to/), and\n\n[subscribe to our YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/9to5google)", "url": "https://wpnews.pro/news/samsung-health-wont-delete-all-of-your-data-if-you-opt-out-of-ai-training-after", "canonical_source": "https://9to5google.com/2026/07/15/samsung-health-ai-training-data-consent/", "published_at": "2026-07-15 14:35:48+00:00", "updated_at": "2026-07-15 15:46:52.712567+00:00", "lang": "en", "topics": ["artificial-intelligence", "ai-policy", "ai-ethics", "ai-products"], "entities": ["Samsung", "Samsung Health", "9to5Google", "How-To Geek", "Galaxy Watch 9"], "alternates": {"html": "https://wpnews.pro/news/samsung-health-wont-delete-all-of-your-data-if-you-opt-out-of-ai-training-after", "markdown": "https://wpnews.pro/news/samsung-health-wont-delete-all-of-your-data-if-you-opt-out-of-ai-training-after.md", "text": "https://wpnews.pro/news/samsung-health-wont-delete-all-of-your-data-if-you-opt-out-of-ai-training-after.txt", "jsonld": "https://wpnews.pro/news/samsung-health-wont-delete-all-of-your-data-if-you-opt-out-of-ai-training-after.jsonld"}}
