For AI and HPC practitioners, higher sustained storage bandwidth and lower load latency reduce the I/O bottleneck when large models and datasets. Samsung Electronics began mass production of the PM1763, a PCIe 6.0 enterprise SSD, according to a Samsung Newsroom release and Business Wire distribution. Samsung states the drive uses 9th-generation V-NAND and a newly developed 4nm controller, and is offered in 4TB, 8TB, and 16TB capacities. Samsung's press release reports the 16TB configuration delivers sequential read/write speeds of up to 28,400 MB/s and 21,900 MB/s, and can transfer a 40GB large language model in approximately 1.4 seconds. The company also highlights optimization for liquid-cooled servers via direct-to-chip cooling and support for post-quantum cryptography, per the Samsung announcement.
