It’s also just $1 more than the Ryzen 5 5600X, a CPU released almost four years earlier. We’re used to seeing the 9600X get discounts, but this is value previously unseen, and worth thinking about.

Why we like the Ryzen 5 9600X
Great value for gaming
It’s weird to think that less than $200 gets you one of the best CPUs for gaming, but it’s the truth. No, it cannot match the likes of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but for a budget option, it gets our vote. It outperforms its 7600X predecessor and, paired with a current-gen mid-range GPU, it can sit at the heart of 1440p gaming rigs.

What to consider before you buy
Ultimately, it’s hard not to love this deal. A record-low price has the Ryzen 5 9600X showing up in the same price bracket as its predecessor’s predecessor. One thing worth mentioning here is that its more potent sibling, the Ryzen 7 9700X, is also on sale during Prime Day. It’s $90 more, and may be worth a look for a bit more performance. Also, a Socket AM5 system with a 9600X should cost far more to build than a Socket AM4 with a 5600X. But the price of this CPU deal is still excellent.
