Rust binary deobfuscation with rust-deobf A new open-source tool called rust-deobf recovers obfuscated strings from stripped Rust malware binaries without executing them, recovering 8 of 8 planted indicators in under 10 seconds on a benchmark sample where `strings` and FLOSS both returned 0. The tool combines static call-site recovery with Unicorn emulation and a real loader, and its published benchmark table shows 5/5 recovery against litcrypt, obfstr, cryptify, muddy (ChaCha20-Poly1305 AEAD), tight stack strings and hand-rolled XOR/ADD/SUB, versus 0/5 for `strings` and FLOSS on each. On real samples, rust-deobf recovered 32 obfuscated strings from EDDIESTEALER (PE), including its hidden C2 domain and URL path, and the C2 exfil URL, crypto-clipper config and staging paths from AmnesiaStealer (macOS Mach-O). strings sees nothing. FLOSS sees nothing. rust-deobf sees the C2. rust-deobf recovers what obfuscated Rust binaries hide — C2 addresses, file paths, mutexes, registry keys, config — without ever running the sample . None is ever printed.
